WELCOME TO SHINPIDEN!

Reiki Master/Teacher Course
10-12 November 2023
Lewes, East Sussex

  • Welcome!

I am so very honoured to be making this step with you, the Master level of your Reiki journey!

  • Course Schedule

The course will run across 10-12 November from 11-6 on all three days.

You can download a PDF of our schedule here.

  • Location

The course will be held just outside of the beautiful town of Lewes, a charming medieval town. We’ll be learning from Beechwood Hall which is a four minute walk from Cooksbridge station. A taxi will be arranged to bring everyone staying in Lewes to and from the venue. For those driving, there is plenty of free parking at the venue.

    Beechwood Hall
    Beechwood Lane
    Cooksbridge BN7 3QG

  • Payments

The total cost is £999. If you haven’t already done so, please transfer your remaining balance of £555 two weeks before the course begins (no later than 27th October).

Payments are made via BACS (using your name as the reference) to:

    Awakening Light Ltd
    Account: 16178111
    Sort Code: 608371

Please let me know when you’ve made a transfer and if you’d like a receipt for the payments. If you’re a Reiki Practitioner (have started your business or set up with HMRC) then the course and any related costs are a business expense you can claim!

  • What to bring

I will be giving you a detailed course manual, but do bring a notebook and pen. Please also bring a water bottle, lunch and snacks (this course tends to create a large appetite) along with a blanket.

I’d also recommend wearing a decent pair of walking shoes / wellies for walking on the South Downs, along with a raincoat (November!).

If you’re brave and fancy a morning cold-water swim, Seaford beach is only 10 minutes away on the train (or 15 by car) - you can get there by travelling to Bishopstone station from Lewes. If that sounds appealing, pack a swimsuit and towel!

  • Meals

Please bring lunch to the venue with you as Lewes is five minutes away by car or train and there aren’t any places beyond a farm shop near to where we’re learning. There is a fridge and a microwave we are welcome to use and no one else will be there over our days together, so you can bring it all and leave it in the fridge on the first day.

For those staying in Lewes, the town has lots of cafes and restaurants and there is also a Waitrose and Tesco. For lunch/brunch, I’d go to The Depot (by the station) or a great Vietnamese place called Pestle & Mortar. For dinner, Dill on Cliffe High Street is fab, or you might try The Rights of Man for tapas, Zorbas for Turkish, or Erawan for Thai.

  • Where to stay

Cooksbridge is just five minutes outside of Lewes (by train or taxi). The town is surrounded by the South Downs and an abundance of wonderful walking trails, while also being very close to Brighton and the sea.

For those traveling by train, I’d recommend looking in Lewes which has lots of cute Bed & Breakfasts, ample listings on Airbnb, and a Premier Inn if you prefer a hotel.

If you’re traveling by car, there’s a lovely pub near the venue called The Jolly Sportsman which students have stayed in and enjoyed dinner there. Also close by are Shepherd Huts and off-grid type cabins if you fancy being immersed in nature and making a more rural retreat out of it (see Airbnb listings around Cooksbridge).

How to prepare:

In this time leading up to Shinpiden, your daily self-treatments are a rich resource. See them as a devotional practice to your own healing journey. You will be learning how to pass attunements, and to do so fluidly it will be imperative that you know all the symbols by heart. You might also like to rev-up your self-care routine by meditating, journalling, mindfully walking, and reading spiritual books - all wonderful ways to nurture yourself.

  • Please use this time as the ultimate excuse to rev-up your self-care. It is essential - and you can consider it mandatory homework. Make it a non-negotiable part of your day. What is your self-care routine? Maybe you’ve never had one - it can be long walks, yoga, meditating, journaling, getting together for intimate Reiki Shares with friends, treating yourself with kindness, eating food that makes you feel alive, or whatever feeds you on a deep soul level. Perhaps read a spiritual/Reiki book, and try meditating regularly.

  • You might want to give a few Reiki treatments to friends or clients over the next weeks to gain more experience.

  • Please have a look at the Reiki 2 symbols again! It is vital to really know them by heart. We use them in the attunements so please do memorise them before the course. For those that haven’t learned the Japanese lineage with the kotodama (chants) we will go over this on our first day together.

  • Most importantly: Use Reiki for yourself every day! This may be a self-treatment, using the Japanese breathing techniques like Joshin Kokyu-ho, reciting the Reiki Principles, or meditating on the symbols.

  • Perhaps refresh your memory of the system by re-reading your Reiki 1 + 2 Manuals.

  • Optional but recommended reading: Frans Stiene’s books - either Reiki Insights, or The Inner Heart of Reiki, or my book, The Reiki Way.

Shinpiden is a deep and expansive journey into our true nature, which is Reiki. I’m so looking forward to sharing this experience with you! Please reach out if you have any questions as our time together comes closer.

All my love!
Brighitta
