Season of Magic
Progeny of the Earth. Offspring of the stars. See how our mother retreats into herself now. She is pulling her power back in after a long stretch of growth and harvest. She effortlessly surrenders to rest. Together we’re crossing the threshold into the season of decay, of release, of slumber and renewal. Now at the midpoint of Autumn, we begin our descent into darkness - into the unknown. We are given an invitation for release here as we journey deeper inwards, calling back our energy. Today and tomorrow marks Samhain (pronounced Sow-inn), the Celtic fire festival celebrating the magic of transformation. Although each year brings a tenderness with unexpected endings, it’s my favourite time for healing and coming home to the inner hearth. The energy invites us to release with gratitude. The flow carries us home.
Samhain is witch’s new year. Endings are not without beginnings! And what is a witch but a woman who owns her power? A woman deeply attuned to her cyclical nature and the cycles of nature all around her. A woman connected to Mother Earth as she learns to fall back into the arms of Grandmother Universe. She’s a wild living creature of magic and mystery. She knows who she is and trusts the forces of life to show her the way. We can use these potent days to reflect and offer gratitude for the natural abundance of life, as well as to honour the feelings we feel for what has fallen away. You might like to light a candle and make a list, offering thanks for what has been harvested over this last year, both lessons learned and wishes granted, to gently release all that is ready to fall away. While the veil between worlds is thin in this liminal space, ask for the support you need on your journey of personal transformation. You are held by the transformative energies all around. You are supported by unseen love. You are guided by the great mystery, just as we all are. Actively invite the alchemical magic you wish for. Set it on fire within the cauldrons of your heart and belly.
Wishing you many blessings for this season of magic!
With deep gratitude as always,
Brighitta xx
