The Tao of Reiki
The Tao Te Ching (the way of virtue, or the book of the way and its power) is such a beautiful book and holds so much wisdom for Reiki practitioners. Who or what is doing the healing in a Reiki session? It's not the practitioner healing from their human form, but rather the greater formless intelligence that shines through them from their state of deep presence. Healing happens naturally when we get out of the way; when we step into the flow of the intelligent, mysterious force that weaves the entire Universe together. We let emotions flow, we let the energy flow, we allow life to be as it is and we relax into pure beingness. This is how we harmonise with the way of life. This is how we return to wholeness. Peace is the way.
The light of pure consciousness arises in that deep meditative place of Reiki and it does the work. That's how we’re doing nothing yet nothing is undone. Our job isn't to channel energy from outside of ourselves or even to do healing, our work is simply learning to be, to drop down and anchor into the deep energy of presence which is already within. We hold that open space of peace and compassion as the container for healing to happen on its own. From that mystical place of inner stillness, the energy naturally arises to soothe, clear and heal. This energy is called many names - Reiki, the Tao, Source, Soul, Consciousness, the Mystery, the Force. When we practice without expectation or attachment to outcome - not working with a desire to change or control a situation (even when we believe it’s for the greater good of our client) we’re no longer centered in ego, which allows us to embody our conscious, soulful presence - our place of true power. From presence we let the healing happen in whatever way it does, while simply accepting the moment as it is. It's passive and active at the same time. Yin and yang together, as one. It’s the way of Reiki.
